not a lot but a tad
in which I muse (briefly!) on my changing relationship to Time, celebrate a tune by a fellow writer, and remind you of upcoming dates (VALENTINES DAY)
Hey Hartlist,
Seriously, was that a WEEK? Already?? Why does everything go so fast? My cousin Sam just had a baby and I’m still trying to work out how that happened, given that he’s still four years old. (Ok, 14 at the MOST).
Also, the VALENTINES DAY SHOW, 7PM 2/14/22 at Rockwood Music Hall Stage TWO is now less than a month away… ! Oh look, you can get tickets here.
Also, my next YouTube livestream, THE CHRYSALIS 59!: THE DAY BEFORE VALENTINES DAY, will be at 4PM EDT on 2/13/22… the day before Valentines Day.
(Also you guys a car alarm has been going off outside my window FOR. LITERALLY. EVER.)
I think I’ve mentioned my… variable relationship to Time before. ($1 for the person who correctly guesses how long it took me to decide on an adjective. 1Or how many I went through. 2 ) Historically, I tend to either assume that something will take way longer to do than it will or I cram my to-do list with an unreasonable number of items. (Sometimes both; don’t ask me how.) This has in the past led to either avoiding the task entirely, or giving 150% more than needed.
Anyway, long story short… sometimes that’s hard. But I’ve been working to adopt less is more in all areas except maybe those mini ice cream cones from Trader Joe’s.
The guy who drew the cheeky cartoon above is the person Less is More brings to mind for me. Here’s me performing his song “The Lightbulb”, on The Chrysalis.
Come see me do it with the band & friends at the Rockwood Music Hall Stage Two on valentines day. A sensible hour set, no more no less.
Some victories this week: a new draft of the musical Iron John in which the epilogue is finally an epilogue and not a one-act play, and finally mailing back a pair of shoes that didn’t fit … a year ago. It took ten minutes.
