Hey Hartlist,
All right I’ve started about four versions of a What I Did On My Summer Vacation post, including the one I just deleted most of, and now I’m playing TOMORROW and I need to just get this out to you. I mean, it’s been a while, but I believe it’s still traditional to invite people to an event… before it happens.
So, long story short: I quit music, and then joined a choir.

FROM THE CHRYSALIS
I never actually intended to quiet-quit everything, including this newsletter. I just wanted to get away from anything that might have the words booking, promotion, or doodle poll attached to it. I’m still on indefinite hiatus from those things, really, and hope to be until I stop having exchanges like this one from yesterday:
Perfectly Nice Person At Yoga: Hey are you playing again anytime soon?
Me: No. Gigs are mere distractions from the relentlessness of entropy. We’re all just corpses who haven’t yet begun to decay.
PNPAY: …
OK, I didn’t actually say that. (I stopped after “No”, which is definitely worse.) It’s actually a quote from the “Existential Crisis” episode of The Good Place, the show I rewatch every time I get sick or feel suffused with ennui, and, well, I just finished it for the sixth time, so I guess I might as well have said the whole thing.
But then I went to choir practice and we sang something called “All Will Be Well” and I cried into my highlighted score and then felt a lot better. And I actually have a lot of warm and heartfelt and uplifting things to say about that, and I know because I just wrote several paragraphs of them, and they were really heading somewhere I think, assuming edits. However, it’s now 5PM and I really have to get this out to you in case you’re in Astoria tomorrow night and would like to hear me sing some songs. (Do I think I can only blog when I have gigs to announce? Is that why I haven’t been writing? Is this a blog and not a newsletter? Hm. This and other questions…. answered next week.)
Wow, my first cliffhanger.
See you out there and on here,
Rebecca
This event starts at 7PM, but/and I will be on at 930, running in late due to a scheduling conflict, to close it out with my fave Sinead song (no spoilers).
I am in this.
