Tomorrow: 'Chrysalis' 26: GATHERING
Hey Hartlist,
Just came from the park where we were having a family picnic/butterfly release (yes this metaphor just keeps on going) as the part of my niece's 7th birthday 'stuff'. There were a lot of people out by the water, in (mostly) nicely-spaced groups. There was a band of some kind rehearsing to our left, and a full-on wedding underway to our right. (I had to leave before the flamenco act got started.) A crazy man chased two joggers, screaming epithets. As I walked home I passed sidewalks full of brunching people and dogs in light jackets. Yes all in all it was a pretty regular NYC saturday, just with more masks.
It was kind of windy though, and I wore the wrong thing, and I found myself wondering how it's going to be once it's no longer picnic weather. We humans - yes, even us introverts - have a need to gather, and we've been pretty creative about it. Still, as they said on the TV show, Winter is Coming.
And I'm really not Debbie Downer (Dread Diane?) about this; I have a lot of hope and faith and at the VERY least a healthy sense of This Too Shall Pass about it all. Also I love Fall under ANY circumstance. Still, maybe it's the chill in the air that made me think "it's time to play WITH someone".
Tomorrow at 4PM 'The Chrysalis' will feature its first guest; bassist Chris Nattrass! We're gonna get together in my backyard-ish and play some tunes for you. Pending wifi signal and other technical elements, this will either be live as usual OR a video we will post at the usual time. Looking forward to getting together however we can.
Love
Rebecca
