TODAY: 'Chrysalis' 20!! NUMBERS... '12th Night' Link Forthcoming
"I like Things. Things is easier than people. Set out to make a gate, you usually get a gate. Set out to make a fence, and so on."- IRON JOHN, or a librettist quotes her own musical again.
Hey Hartlist,
Apologies for the late communication! I was hoping to have the youtube link to the lovely Opera House Arts' zoom "Twelfth Night" in which I got to play Viola on Friday night, which was a blast. But I will send it along separately for anyone craving a Shakespeare fix (or to see me in sort of drag). For now - See you TODAY ON FACEBOOK AND INSTAGRAM AT 4PM for the 20th "Chrysalis" concert: "NUMBERS".
It's a theme I find myself returning to again and again - what is and is not within our control. What -if anything - is changeable, and then also... what , if anything is truly UNchanging? solid? permanent? Like - what even ...IS, you know?
No I'm not high, I've just been baking more often.
I've said often, to myself and anyone who would listen, that I find baking comforting because it's the opposite of ARTing. If I want to make a cake, and I add this many eggs to this much flour and so on, I'm pretty much guaranteed to end up with a cake. (Unless I'm trying to write something at the same time; then I will have burnt cake.) If on the other hand I sit down to "write a song" or "finish this damn opera", well, then, you really never know.
This week's theme is NUMBERS. There will be new fun covers and some special guests. I'd like to write some new material, but while I can't control that, I can control putting my butt in the chair and practicing. So here goes. Two - three- four -
