Sunday 4PM The Chrysalis 35: WINTER SOLSTICE
And so the shortest day came, and the year died
And everywhere down the centuries of the snow-white world
Came people singing, dancing,
To drive the dark away.
-Susan Cooper
Hey Hartlist,
And that's the whole thing isn't it? Doesn't it actually drive the dark away? I mean, at LEAST some of it, at LEAST some of the time?? I just watched a little bit of the first rehearsal of the first opera I've ever worked on, and even over Zoom, even with masks and plexiglass partitions between singers who are in another state than I am, there was no mistaking the power of Those Voices coming through.
Certainly this {insert adjective} year would have felt a lot darker without my weekly show, and the weekly show would not have been at all had it not been for YOU. So I've said it before and I'll say it again thank you for tuning into The Chrysalis and I will see you THIS SUNDAY 12/20, for the WINTER SOLSTICE SHOW, which just happens to beautifully land on the Eve of the Solstice itself. The shortest day and longest night... after which, little by little, the light grows.
It just started snowing out as I wrote this!
See you Sunday,
RH
