Sunday 4PM: The Chrysalis 34: AGE WISDOM MAGIC
Hey Hartlist,
Happy Hanukkah! I've put up my tree! And so begins the season of Light-In-The-Dark Chez Mixed Heritage Moi. But more on that next week, where the Sunday show falls on the eve of the Winter Solstice! and we can Get Into It. For now I will say that I'm starting to book up for end of year tarot readings AND that you can get the album The Magician's Daughter here. Both make good holiday gifts. The album is digital BUT I have dropcards if you would rather have something wrap-able, message me.
Last week's show, KIDS (NOT just FOR KIDS), was a blast. Stay tuned for another. When deciding on this week's theme, I thought, "well what's the opposite of that?" I got really excited about doing a show about ... and then I got stuck. What could I call it - Elders? Grandma? Aging? -that wouldn't put people off?
As I sat there pondering this ickiness, a post floated by on my instagram:
"Herman J. Mankiewicz's wife, Sara, was born in 1897, the same year as her husband. In the David FIncher movie Mank, she is played by a 33 year old actress. Gary Oldman, who plays Mankiewicz, is 62. We don't feel invisible. You erase us."
Friends... this has gotta stop. Speaking of distaste for old things, I'm over this prejudice in a massive way. Yes, in particular as regards women. But this week on The Chrysalis, songs about and for all those who have lived a life, acquired powers, learned lessons, gained perspective, and are delightfully still talking, thinking, contributing, and having sex lives. By the way, have you seen The 40 Year Old Version yet because it's great. As is the female friendship in Dead To Me. Anyway, see you Sunday and may we all keep bringing The Light.
Love
Rebecca
