Songs from the Chrysalis 13: ALCHEMY Sunday 6/14 4PMEST

We would rather die in our dread
Than climb the cross of the moment
And let our illusions die." -wh auden
Hey Hartlist,
I hope you are all well and healthy and coming through this week with equal doses of reckoning and hope, or whatever that sentence becomes if I revise it. Thank you to everyone who tuned in for 'Chrysalis 12', in which we visited the Protest Song in various forms as well as the 1990s why not. I figured why stop there let's keep this theme going because CHANGE is certainly the moment we are in and there are many facets to that word and experience. Though we might get into The New Millennium in this one, just to keep the musical timeline going.
Last weeks' show is still up on Facebook and now up on YouTube if you didn't catch it and would like to.
FUN FACT that I didn't know: if you are *not* on Facebook
you CAN still watch the show on Facebook see you Sunday at 4.
Since declaring this series "songs from the chrysalis" i have been truly astounded at how many caterpillar/butterfly-themed encounters have been coming my way (and not from people who know about the live stream). But yesterday was my first IRL butterfly of the summer. This beauty joined me on a walk around the neighborhood for a block or so, circling my head and zooming back and forth. Then it sat down and posed for this photo.
When I was a kid I had a beloved book in which a character said that the color of the first butterfly of the summer you see will determine the quality of your summer: gold for joy, white for peace, and black/brown for sad. For some reason this stuck in my head, and my whole life really every time I've ever seen the first butterfly of the summer, I check to see. (It doesn't ever play out, but I still do it. That's how insanity works.) Yesterday upon seeing this gorgeous creature my first thought was "oh no!" And then I was like... wait what? What if that old association is based on... nothing, or worse? What if I just ... retire it right now, and forever? Yeah that's better.
I didn't really notice until I was writing this email that the butterfly was actually both black and gold anyway.
All right friends. See you Sunday.
